In early 2021 I started a side hobby project called "Bionicle Re-Tool".
The initial reason for starting this project was to create posable original bionicle parts and to recreate those shown in the Bionicle: Mask of Light Movie from reference images and concept art from the movies development.
The Toa limbs were originally produced in 2001 for the Toa Mata and 2002 for the Toa Nuva, As they were static molds you could only get a certain number of poses out of your figures even though the marketing showed them bending with ease.
That is what fueled my endeavor to recreate and add the ability to bend or mix the limbs with one another to allow unblocked creativity.

The Matoran build was the first fully custom set that I created which was based solely off the Mast of Light movie.
This set went changed quite a few times throughout its development from a simple block to a modular system.
Version 1 of the Matoran build's body resembled more closely to the MNOG 2 (Mata Nui Online Game: II) design while the brain stalk has a cap/cover line the Mask of Light movie.

For Version 2 of the Matoran build i redesigned the body to be more modular with interchangeable parts for more colour options to strongly resemble the Mask of Light design of the Matoran and The Brain stalk cap/cover was replaced with a redesigned brainstalk.

This was my first venture into making custom parts from Bionicle 2 : Legend of Metru Nui.
As there was reference material used for the movie it made recreating the model much easier as I could import the image and use it as a template for modeling the foot.
