During my time as a student of Bohunt School I was Granted access to a laptop in my lessons as a learning aid due to my dyslexia.
Due to my inquisitive nature I found a security vulnerability in the schools system which allowed you to gain access to the administrator account, Obviously that dropped me in some hot water but after explaining exactly what I did the head of the school decided to use me to the schools advantage instead of penalizing me for my actions as there was no malintent.
At first my only task was to repair a mountain of broken laptops which most people would find an extremely boring task but to me it was thoroughly entertaining.
- Diagnosing the laptops
- Disassembling to find which component has been damaged,
- Delving into the parts bin to find the perfect replacement part to bring the laptop back to an operational status whether that be a keyboard, hard drive, screen. Etc.
- reassembling the laptop with all its original screws and starting the process all over again
In some cases the laptops would need to be reformatted and be given a fresh install of a custom version of the windows installer that had all the necessary applications ready to be used once you have logged in.
Eventually my tasks began to expand as I became more acquainted with the IT Support Team, I continued to work with the team even after my year group had completely left the school.ย
My responsibilities while being a part of the IT Support Team included, but were not limited to:
